This year, the Toronto Cafés (@OrangeYYZ) put their cargo bike to good use by lending it to local charity Not Far From the Tree (@nfftt.) The bike was part of an elite cargo bike fleet that helped Not Far From The Tree pick and share over 22,000 pounds of fruit!
It was busy in the Trinity-Spadina neighbourhood where over 100 fruit trees are registered for Not Far From the Tree’s fruit picking program.
Volunteer pick leaders used the bike to transport picking equipment and to deliver fresh fruit to local food banks, shelters and community kitchens. The bike is back at the Downtown Café for winter storage. Keep an eye out for it in 2014!
For the second year, #TeamOrange in Montreal (@OrangeYUL) had the opportunity to assist the Eva R. GSum Foundation for their Karma 4 Kids Yoga event. As you can see, the day was filled with smiles, fun, yoga and lots of Orange!
#TeamOrange in Montreal (@OrangeYUL) has been searching for pennies.
For the last few weeks, they have been asking Montreal to search their piggy banks and couch cushions for pennies to donate to the Montreal Children’s Library.
The change was dropped off to the Cafe and six, full jars were donated to help the library purchase additional books and supplies.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by and donated!
#TeamOrange in Montreal (@OrangeYUL) just can’t get enough of theTyndale Community Centre!
On their latest, #OITC day they went back to help with some renovations.
With some sweating and a fresh coat of paint later, #TeamOrange said goodbye for the season but will be back again next year.
Last week, #TeamOrange in Montreal (@OrangeYUL) visited Atelier 850, an organization that helps children in the community with homework and other creative activities.
As a thank you for all of their amazing work in our community, the team donated forty-eight school bags with some much needed school supplies.
It was an awesome experience and we’re looking forward to our next visit!
Last weekend, #TeamOrange in Toronto (@OrangeYYZ) sponsored the Cycle Toronto Bike Valet at the On Common Ground festival at Fort York. On Common Ground is a free, family friendly festival celebrating local arts and culture. There was live music, performance art and many local exhibitors.
Bike Valet is a free bike parking service offered by our local cycling advocacy group Cycle Toronto. Having a Bike Valet at an event encourages people to ride their bikes, which is great for the environment and the wallet! It doesn’t hurt that we share the colour orange either….
Play, make new friends, get creative, get sticky, sing and cheer with us Campsites right across Toronto at the Great Camp Adventure on September 28.
#TeamOrange is lending a hand during the first ever #CampforKeeps with Sick Kids Hospital.
#TeamOrange had the opportunity to work with Enfant-Retour Québec last Saturday. They are an organization that aims to prevent missing children and provides support to families in case their loved ones ever disappear.
#TeamOrange in Montreal (@OrangeYUL) helped host an information booth to spread awareness and preventative measures to parents and children!
No one is ever prepared to deal with a child going missing. Thankfully, is there to help families from all over the province and give their support should their child ever disappear.
Last week, #TeamOrange got to visit Earth Rangers Headquarters just outside of Toronto, ON.
We got our hands dirty, digging holes for new trees and mowing the lawn. We worked hard to get the grounds ready for our Earth Ranger and Animal Ambassador friends to go back to school!
Thanks for a great day!
It’s back to school time for many students.
#TeamOrange in Montreal (@OrangeYUL), went to lend a hand at ‘Chemins du Soleil,’ an organization that is there to help. They offer donations of food and school supplies to families in need!
It looks like Montreal’s#TeamOrange loved volunteering with them!
When we said we weren’t afraid to get our hands dirty, we weren’t kidding!
That’s exactly what #TeamOrange in Montreal did last month. Each Café member chose a foundation and went to lend a hand.
This way, we were able to help both Maison Tangeante and Moisson Montréal!
If you feel like volunteering in Quebec, we definitely recommend them!
It’s always great to give back to our community, but it’s even better when the kindness is extended outside of the country!
That’s what Hockey Without Borders was all about; this organization that #TeamOrange in Montreal (@OrangeYUL) supports helps spread the love of our national passtime in places that might not have as many opportunities to play the sport as we do.
Hockey Without Borders invites families to stay in Montreal so that their kids can attend the hockey camp here. They introduce the children to our passion of hockey and have them play in this awesome tournament!
We loved to be a part of it and break a sweat on the ice!
#TeamOrange in Montreal (@OrangeYUL) had a blast helping out this summer with the Montreal Children’s Library.
They were able to lend a hand with the Library during the free activities for kids for the ‘Fun in the Sun’ event at Cabot Square Park!
The team participated in magic shows (don’t worry, no one disappeared!), danced to kids music, crafted with circus performers and relaxed with yoga!
Their inner child can’t wait to do it all again next year!
Our friends from the Downtown Toronto Cafe (@OrangeYYZ), participated in Agak, Agak Hawk! – Stories and Street Food. An outdoor culinary and cultural event in Toronto’s Regent Park organized by Chop Suzies Collective and Food Forward to promote diversity and social inclusion.
ING DIRECT sponsored the event, and brought a little bit of orange to the mix! The team of volunteers was there from start to finish, helping the vendors get set up and cleaned up. It was the perfect summer evening and we cannot wait to see what Chop Suzies does next.
#TeamOrange in Montreal (@OrangeYUL) partnered on an Alice in Wonderland themed fundraiser.
The event ‘Au Coeur des Merveilles’ was a real feast for the eyes! It benefited the foundation ‘Centre de Cancérologie Charles-Bruneau’ that is dedicated to helping fight all kinds of pediatric cancers.
The evening was filled with amazing entertainment, from a petting zoo of white rabbits to waiters decked in full Wonderland garb and handing out delicious cupcakes! It was a great way to help an amazing cause all the while keeping the guest entertained.
